Department of Medicine Seminar Series – Dr Sharon Pattison (Department of Medicine) and Dr Silke Neumann (Department of Pathology).
Gastric Cancer and the Immunoproteasome Gastric cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death in New Zealand and is particularly common amongst Māori.
Gastric cancer can be divided into intestinal and diffuse subtypes by different histologic features. We have identified genes involved in the generation of the immunoproteasome that are associated with survival from intestinal and diffuse cancer in opposite ways.
We aim to understand the mechanisms behind this contrasting impact on survival to identify avenues that can be pursued for prognosis and treatment of gastric and other cancers.
All Southern District Health Board and University of Otago staff and students are welcome to attend.
