The Knowledge of Divine Things
About Professor Christopher Holmes' research
Chris is a systematic theologian and an ordained minister. His research is focused on what the Bible has to say about God and all things as they relate to God. This has brought him into deep conversation with some of the Christian church’s most important teachers, including St Augustine, St Thomas Aquinas, John Calvin, Karl Barth, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
Chris has published many articles and book chapters covering key theological themes. He has also published five books, his most recent being A Theology of the Christian Life: Imitating and Participating in God (Baker Academic). His sixth book will appear in 2022 with Baylor University Press. It is titled The Substance of the Faith. This book considers the speeches of Peter and Paul in the Acts of the Apostles. It unfolds, in dialogue with St Thomas Aquinas and Calvin, the speeches’ contribution to Christian doctrine.
Chris also serves as the Head of the Theology Programme.
This lecture will be followed with light refreshments, tea, coffee and juice.
