Biochemistry Seminar: Azoles here, azoles there, are azoles used everywhere?
Azole drugs are the blockbusters amongst antifungals and fungicides. Due to their broad-spectrum antifungal activity, these drugs are used in agriculture, as well as human and veterinary medicine. Their dual usage results in an almost ubiquitous presence of azole in the environment and food products.
The high degree of azole contamination in the environment triggers the emergence of multi-drug resistant strains and evolution novel multi-drug resistant fungi. The aim of the current lecture is to share and provide insights in to this exciting topic from a one health perspective.
