Endometriosis / Mate kirikōpū is a common, inflammatory disease that causes severe menstrual period pain, chronic pelvic pain and infertility.

Despite affecting many wāhine in our community, we still do not understand what causes this disease; it is hard to diagnose, and the management options do not help everyone.

Associate Professor Jane Girling from the Department of Anatomy, University of Otago will discuss the work that is being done internationally to find better diagnostics and treatments, and to determine just what causes endometriosis.
