Otago Global Health Institute (OGHI) 11th Annual Conference - Sustainable Development in Global Health’

As one of the University of Otago’s flagship research centres, the Otago Global Health Institute (OGHI)aims to work with partners in New Zealand and abroad to help find solutions together for pressing global health problems. The OGHI annual conference is an opportunity for researchers working across diverse disciplines in global health, to meet, discuss projects, and foster new collaborations.

We are delighted to host Professor Ken Brown, who will join us as our keynote speaker and also present the McKinlay Oration. Professor Ken Brown is a global expert on the epidemiology, treatment, and prevention of childhood malnutrition in lower-income countries. Prof Brown is currently a Senior Fellow at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Distinguished Professor Emeritus at University of California, Davis, having previously served as the Africa Regional Advisor for Nutrition and Child Survival for Helen Keller International. Professor Brown has co-authored over 300 peer reviewed publications.

Professor Ken Brown biography

Following on from the OGHI annual conference is the 2018 Pacific International Health Symposium (PIHS),  28-30 November, and the Australasian Society of Infectious Diseases NZ (ASID) Annual Meeting, 29 November-1 December.

The ASID New Zealand Annual Meeting which features presentations in a variety of topics including infectious diseases, infection control, antibiotic stewardship, microbiology, travel medicine and public health. It also includes a Trainee Day.
