The Modern Suffragist

This is the title of Lizzie Marvelly's talk, the 2018 Michael King Memorial Lecture, hosted by the Department of History and Art History.

Lizzie Marvelly, Ngāti Whakaue, is editor of Villainesse, an online media project aiming to create smart, 'no-filter' media for young women. Lizzie was motivated to create Villainesse.com because she wanted more young female voices represented in the media. Bringing together bright young student and citizen writers and inspirational contributors, Villainesse is on a mission to empower young women.

Lizzie is also an award-winning opinion columnist for the Weekend Herald, and a regular guest on current affairs programmes The Project and Marae.
