Seminar | A comparison of the NZDep index of socioeconomic deprivation and the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD)

Also available to view live via the internet. See details below.

Overview

NZDep has been used for over 20 years. IMD is a new index. This study compares the two in terms of: 1) the theoretical and methodological approaches; 2) the handling of small areas; 3) their rankings of all small areas in New Zealand, 4) their relationships with various health and social outcomes.

Speaker

Peter Crampton is Professor of Public Health in the Kōhatu Centre for Hauora Māori. He, along with Clare Salmond and June Atkinson (and formerly Frances Sutton), are the authors of the NZDep indexes.
