Peter Hatfield is a retired renal physician who worked at Wellington Hospital and in London. He was a founder member of the WMHS. Peter was President of the Wellington City University of the Third Age 2013–2018.
Maurice Wilkins, the man from Pongaroa ,was New Zealand’s second Nobel Prize winner and called his autobiography, The Third Man of the Double Helix.
Like many of his colleagues who had worked on the Manhattan Project, he helped found the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and co-led the marches from Aldermaston.
He was the first scientist to write about ethics in science and was the president of the British Society for Social Responsibility in Science.
