The team that delivers the PG Diploma in Rural and Provincial Hospital Practice (the Rural Postgraduate Programme), in conjunction with the Cook Islands Ministry of Health and the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine, presents the Rural Generalist CME Workshop 2020. We hold this event in Aotearoa or Rarotonga. This year it will be held in beautiful Rarotonga.
This workshop provides an important professional connection between the Cook Islands clinicians and the professional organisations of New Zealand. Since the Cook Islands Ministry of Health and the Rural Postgraduate Programme first held the workshop at Rarotonga Hospital in 2012, it has been run annually, alternating between at Rarotonga and Aotearoa.
The workshop provides a forum for exchange of clinical, professional, and cultural experience between doctors working in New Zealand and the remote Cook Islands. Some of the income generated supports the ongoing training of generalist doctors in the Cook Islands.
The Rural Postgraduate Programme website has full details about the 2020 Workshop.
