Fire Scene Investigation: The role of the Fire Risk Management Officer

The next Forensic Science Society talk will be presented by Scott Lanauze, Specialist Fire Investigator on Thursday 20th May, 5.30PM in the Kauri Seminar Room, Ground Floor, Walsh Building (entrance via the Main Doors from Great King Street).

This presentation details the work of Fire Risk Management Officers within Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) including that of Fire Scene Investigation. The presentation will cover how FENZ responds to events, the reasons why fire investigations occur, examples of how a fire scene is examined and how this information is used to educate and promote fire safety to our communities.

Scott offers an extensive working knowledge of fire-related building and material subject matter, having previously worked within the Civil engineering industry. Scott holds Chartered Membership of Engineering New Zealand and is a Graduate Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers. Scott also serves as a volunteer firefighter with a local fire brigade.
