Addressing inequities in education and health: The Socioeconomic Equity Project In Aotearoa, individuals from lower decile schools are significantly under-represented in university study, particularly in health professional degree study. People from communities with less economic resources are more likely to experience higher health needs, greater barriers to accessing health services, and suffer worse health outcomes when compared to individuals from more affluent communities.

This seminar series discusses the impetus behind Otago’s Socioeconomic Equity Project and provides an overview of the strength-based programme for Health Sciences students from decile 1–3 schools.
