MB ChB graduation and beyond

At the end of the Trainee Intern year, medical students graduate, both with MB ChB degrees, and to provisional medical registration for the Post Graduate training (PGY1-2) that is the next stage of becoming a doctor.

The TI year ends in November, giving students time to move to new locations just before heading back to Dunedin for the December graduation ceremony, which also provides the occasion at which the new doctors take the medical oath.

Graduands apply for their graduations via their eVision account; the University's Graduations Office coordinates the ceremony, including advising graduands on regalia, guest tickets, and the procession.

The Otago Medical School office coordinates a pre-graduation event including the class prizegiving, and oath ceremony and class photos. The Student Affairs Office advises final year students of the details towards the end of the year.

The medical graduation for 2020 will be on Saturday 12 December.
