To help support Otago Medical School (OMS) staff improve the quality of research being submitted for publication in medical education journals, the medical education research team offers pre-submission review by other OMS medical education researchers. This informal process is one way to improve the likelihood of acceptance by a journal.
When you request a review, the quality of the feedback will be enhanced if you can be specific about where you would like assistance (e.g. the method section). Otherwise, a general readership review would be undertaken that may include feedback on whether everything is clear and understandable, if the aims, methods, findings, discussion/conclusion are well aligned, how engaging the paper is to a medical education audience etc.
If you would like to submit your draft manuscript for pre-submission review, please email your manuscript to Joy Rudland. The manuscript will then be forwarded to an appropriate reviewer after liaising with you, so you are comfortable with the individual selected to review your work.
