Wellington (Island Bay) cottage available
Want to holiday in Wellington near the sea? We have a fully renovated 3-bedroom cottage in Island Bay – a few minutes’ walk to the beach, coastal walks, cinema, bus stop, supermarket, great cafes. Ideal location! Explore Wellington’s South Coast and the Coolest Little Capital in the World.
We are looking to do a house-swap with comparable houses in Dunedin, Wanaka, Nelson/Tasman region. We can water plants, feed pets for you while you’re away too.
We are a professional couple, and we grew up and studied in Dunedin. We are visiting Dunedin, then Wanaka, then Nelson/Tasman region over approx. 22 December to 14 January. We will be travelling with our two kids (ages 11 and 14), and our house and crate-trained dog. We would love the opportunity to house-swap with someone (or house-sit for you if you don’t want to swap).
We have previous house-sitting experience – we are clean and tidy; we are excellent with houseplants and gardens, and love pets. We are also security conscious. (We would expect anyone we house-swapped with to be the same; and treat our home with respect and care)
If you are planning to be away during the holiday period, or know someone who may be, please get in touch. We are very trustworthy and will leave your home very clean and tidy. We have some flexibility in our itinerary (at this stage) so keen to discuss dates or answer questions! Get in touch as soon as possible: Michelle.firstname.lastname@example.org or 022 677 1880.
Opportunity for homestay exchange to Arizona
Monday, 24 May 2021
I’m Paul Wiener a retired professor from Northern Arizona University and my wife is Ann, who is retired from being President and CEO of North Country Healthcare, a non-profit community healthcare organization.
We spent 10 weeks in NZ three years ago, loved it, and would like to make another extended visit.
We live in Flagstaff, AZ, which is about 150 miles north of Phoenix, on the Colorado Plateau, 7,000’ feet above sea level. Arizona Snowbowl is our local ski area, about 20 minute’s drive from town.
We have a very flexible schedule, and can travel almost any time, but were thinking of scheduling a home exchange during Otago’s summer holidays.
We could stay in Dunedin and our exchange partner could stay in our house. It would be convenient, but not necessary, to swap cars at the same time.
If the summer holidays are not a good time, we could either find another time that works, or arrange to stay at a different time from when our exchange partner stays in Flagstaff.
We have a summer (Northern Hemisphere) home on a lake on the South Dakota/Minnesota border, and could offer that as an alternative to Flagstaff, but I would not recommend it during our winter.
The Flagstaff house is in a quiet residential neighbourhood, at the base of Mount Elden, about two blocks from the Coconino National Forest and hiking trails. The house is about 2,500 sq.ft (230 sq.meters), with three bedrooms, one of which I use as an office, two bathrooms, a large living/dining room, a TV room and Ann’s studio, where she does stained glass and mosaic work.
We both like to cook, and the kitchen is roomy and well equipped. We have Wi-Fi and cable television. There are grassed front and back yards, with a hot tub in the back yard. A Safeway supermarket and a couple restaurants are in a small shopping centre five minutes drive from the house, and it’s about 10 minutes to downtown.
