For inspiration - the top 12 photos from last year's competition - will your photo make this year's top 12?

The Otago Bulletin Board team is thrilled to announce the launch of our seventh annual photo competition, which opens for entries today.

We ask you to send in your best snaps – scenic shots, international destinations, life in New Zealand, the beauty of nature, people – you name it, we want to see it! This year – to celebrate the University’s 150th anniversary – we are also looking photos that give a snapshot of Otago life: buildings, special spots, students, staff, anything you like.

The best photos will be selected by a panel of judges and featured here on the Otago Bulletin Board in March. The top 12 entries will then be turned into our 2020 digital calendar and also displayed in the Staff Club.

The calibre of entries for our first five competitions has been fantastic – and we are sure this year will be even better. Take a look at last year’s winners and notable entries for a little inspiration.

Here’s what you need to know to enter:

Who can enter?
The competition is open to staff and postgraduate students of the University of Otago.

What’s the deadline?
Photos are due by Mon 11 Mar 2019

How do I submit a photo?
Email your entry to bulletin.comp@otago.ac.nz

What size and shape do the photos need to be?
The photos can be either landscape or portrait shape, although landscape does work better for our digital calendar. They must be at least 1920px wide.

How many photos can I submit?
You can submit up to three photos, but if you don't have three photos you feel are up to competition standard don't feel obliged to submit more than one.

Who are the judges?
A panel of judges, including our own talented photographer Sharron Bennett will pick the best.

Are you happy for us to print and use your photos?
By entering, you grant permission for us to post your photo to the University website and Facebook page and other social media, and for your photo to be printed for display purposes if selected as a winner or notable entry in this year’s competition.

Still have questions?
Please contact the photo competition team, Email: bulletin.comp@otago.ac.nz

Good luck!
