Otago’s world-leading Online Master of Business Administration (MBA) has launched in China.

In partnership with Beacon Education, the programme started last month with a full cohort of 25 students who will learn from bilingual lecturers based around the world, including Otago.

Otago Business School Executive Programmes Business Development Manager Daniel Prain says Otago is the first non-Chinese university to offer a Chinese language MBA in China.

“This is a serious move by Otago. It is even more significant at this time in that we have 25 new international students on board without the need for student visas or travel.

“It is being delivered in Chinese, online to students in China the same way we deliver our English language online MBA.”

Beacon Education has developed a comprehensive online platform which delivers in-country student outreach, marketing and social media, student recruitment, programme delivery and local support. Otago provides the content and the teaching for the programme.

The Otago Online MBA is ranked number ten in the world in 2020 QS World University Rankings.

“Beacon Education scoured the market for an online MBA. We know we have a quality world-leading programme and it is wonderful to now be offering that to China,” Prain says.

A second cohort of 25 students will start in February 2021.
