A new campaign to recruit domestic PhD candidates to Otago starts today.

The national campaign offers free flights to Dunedin for potential PhD candidates to research their options at the University.

The free flights come with scholarships attached for qualifying recipients, making the offer an attractive stepping stone to students around New Zealand.

Head of Marketing Services, Lindy Wilson, says the new campaign aims to make it easier for domestic students to seriously consider Otago as an option for their doctoral study.

Selected students will travel to Dunedin on Monday 4 August, visit Postgraduate Open Day being held in the Link on Tuesday 5 August, and meet with their prospective departments to sort out their study options. They will then be flown home after a tour of Dunedin the following day.

“We know Otago has a lot to offer postgraduate students, but our distance can sometimes be seen as a barrier. This campaign will give us the opportunity to show potential students how great Otago is,” Lindy says.

If staff members are aware of a qualifying student, direct them to www.otago.ac.nz/freeflights which has more information on the programme and conditions for application.

Applications close on June 27.
