Overview
A consolidation of linguistic skills in Latin and a study of selected Latin prose texts from the Classical period.
The paper is a continuation of LATN 112 and includes the introduction of longer passages of unadapted texts from ancient authors. The emphasis is not only on continuing to master the features of Latin grammar and vocabulary, but also on developing skills in translating from Latin to English.

- Paper Structure
This paper builds on LATN 111 and LATN 112 by further developing the students' knowledge of Latin grammar, syntax and vocabulary in preparation for reading the texts offered in LATN 212.

Students who successfully complete this paper will:
- Demonstrate a knowledge of key elements of Latin syntax (constructions, clauses, sentence structure), including the subjunctive
- Demonstrate a knowledge of Latin grammar
- Demonstrate a knowledge of Latin vocabulary and techniques for remembering vocabulary
- Demonstrate the ability to understand and translate passages of Latin prose and verse
