The jurisdiction and procedure of the District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal in civil cases. The principles of pleading and the drafting of documents. Procedural reform and development.
The theories of why we have courts and what we expect from their procedural rules are important elements of this paper. The focus is at all times on the practical application of the rules, in light of their theoretical underpinning. So, you will be creating statements of claim and a statement of defence and making various interlocutory applications. This paper is fully internally assessed.
