The MusB from 2017 onwards

Features of the new Bachelor of Music (MusB)

  • Only three required music papers: MUSI101, one of MUSI102, MUSI103, MUSI104, MUSI105 and MUSI201.
  • Areas of specialisation can be shown by an optional endorsement(s) based upon the 300 level destination papers a student reaches, eg MusB in Composition.
  • Allows up to 5 non music papers (90 points) for the option of a Minor in another subject within the MusB (360 points)

Composition

To obtain this endorsement, students must have completed MUSI131 and/or MUSI135, MUSI234, and MUSI331(36 points)  More information about composition at Otago

Performance

To obtain this endorsement, students must have completed MUSI141 or MUSI146, MUSI 241 or MUSI246, and MUSI341 or MUSI346 (36 points)

Studio Production

To obtain this endorsement, students must have completed MUSI132, MUSI232 and MUSI332, and one further paper from MUSI303 Music and the Internet (Advanced), MUSI333 Electronic Music Production (Advanced), MUSI366 Music in Film and Gaming, MUSI369 Global Pop
