THEA351 – Performing Shakespeare

A practical and theoretical study, examining the work of the actor, specifically in relation to the performance and analysis of selected Shakespeare texts. This popular paper has a largely practical focus. In it you will perform and analayse selected Shakespeare texts.

Admission to this paper is limited and requires the school's permission, students intending to enrol for this paper must forward a completed application form to the School of Performing Arts office by 23 November. Early applications are encouraged, we will consider late applications, especially for Semester 2 papers.

THEA352 – Directing

An introduction to the role of the director, with emphasis on script analysis and interpretation. Each student will direct a short piece of approximately ten minutes' duration. This popular paper, with a largely practical focus, will give you insight into the role of the theatre director. In addition to lively classroom exercises, each student will direct a short piece.

THEA451 – Advanced Directing

The art of directing, through the study of the work of leading directors and through practical application, including the direction of two short plays. In this full-year paper, you will develop your own 'voice' as a theatre director. You will direct three varied pieces, including one in a non-theatre environment and a Lunchtime Theatre project.
