Outreach involves both the promotion of pharmacology and toxicology as disciplines that can be studied at university, as well as the education of the general public in the nature of science, drug use (medical and recreational), and toxicology.
Both students and staff participate in a range of activities including:

- Science Academy
- University of Otago Science Expo (every two years)
- RNZ talks
