|Research summary||Investigating Kauri dieback in the context of GPCR-mediated chemotaxis by Phytophthora agathidicida|
Phytophthora agathidicida (PTA) detect and swim towards Kauri roots via chemicals in the soil. This detection in thought to be mediated by G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs). I am using Saccharomyces cerevisiae to express and assay the GPCRs from PTA to determine compounds which interact with the GPCRs.
Hopefully, this work will determine which GPCRs are important for the detection of Kauri by PTA and allow us to block or inhibit infection.
