Te Puna Kaitaka (Māori Students Pharmacy Association) held a quiz night on Tuesday 12 September to create awareness for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori (the week of speaking Māori).

Te Puna Kaitaka tumuaki (president), Hemi McKechnie said “Te reo is one of the national languages of Aotearoa, it needs to be practiced more by all. So we invited all students and staff to attend the quiz night.”

“It was a successful night with student and staff teams who all had yummy kai to fuel themselves throughout the quiz.”

The committee organised five sections in the quiz including, tinana (body parts), geography, language, famous Māori people, waiata (song) and performance.

Prize winners were awarded a 'Māori made easy' book written by Scotty Morrison. A book to help students learn to speak te reo Māori.
