Elective topics
For 2024, the proposed elective topic will be:
- Infectious Diseases Interest
This is intended for pharmacists who are interested in extending their knowledge in infectious diseases. Topics covered will include those infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and other pathogens. There will be a major emphasis on promoting judicious use of antimicrobials and the principles of antimicrobial stewardship. This interest area is suitable for pharmacists working in all areas of health.
The elective topics are designed for practitioners who are either practising in these areas or look after patients currently that align with these areas. The topics are designed to support practice environments in hospital, primary health and community.
