Overview

The School of Pharmacy has a very active research programme with disciplines ranging from science to humanities with each having a strong contextual link to health sciences.

The School has two main research areas:

These reflect the core elements in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study.  These areas also align with the key areas of the Medicines New Zealand strategy: quality of medicines (pertaining to the pharmaceutical sciences), optimal use of medicines (pertaining to clinical pharmacy), and access to medicines (pertaining to social pharmacy).

Undergraduate elective research

All fourth-year students at the School of Pharmacy undertake a research project under the PHCY 470 Elective Project full-year paper. This gives students a better understanding of research and allows them to explore in-depth a topic that interests them.

Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours (BPharm(Hons)) students undertake a research project under the PHCY 480 Honours Research Project paper.
