Research Fellow - Supercooling measurements under ice shelves

This position is an exciting opportunity for an early career sea ice physicist or polar oceanographer to join one of the world's leading sea ice research groups to collaborate on the Marsden Fund project "Supercooling measurements under ice shelves". The aim of the project is to construct a new, novel instrument for making high precision supercooling measurements in frazil-laden ocean waters.

This position is funded as a full-time fixed term appointment for 2.5 years, starting 1 September 2019. Applications for the position as a job share agreement are also welcome.

Specific enquiries may be directed to Dr Inga Smith

Postdoctoral Fellow - Experimental Physics

In this fixed term Postdoctoral Fellow position, you will join Dr Mikkel Andersen's project "Hot entanglement with cold atoms" and conduct investigations into entanglement generation between atoms in optical tweezers. You will also be required to assist in the development of graduate student skills.

This is a full-time, fixed term position for two years.

Specific enquires may be directed to Dr Mikkel Andersen

Postdoctoral Fellow - Theory of Superconductivity

As a Postdoctoral Fellow within our Department, you will join Dr Philip Brydon to work on the project “Superconductors with intrinsic magnetism: Origin, evidence, and universal physics” which is funded by the Royal Society of New Zealand’s Marsden fund, and seeks to explore the physics of unconventional superconductors with Bogoliubov Fermi surfaces. In this role you will work closely with Principal Investigator Brydon and the two AIs, Professor Daniel Agterberg (University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee) and Professor Carsten Timm (TU Dresden). You will also assist with the development of graduate student skills and participate in MacDiarmid Institute group activities.

This is a full-time, fixed term position for three years available from March 2019.

Postdoctoral Fellow - Plasma Physics Theory

In this project “The small scales call the shots: the effect of microinstabilities on collisionless cosmic fluids” you will join Dr Jonathan Squire as a Postdoctoral Fellow and assist in theoretical research to understand the dynamics of high-β weakly collisional plasmas. You will also assist in the development of graduate student skills and participate in Physics Department research group activities.

This is a full-time, fixed term position for two years available from September 2019.

Specific enquiries can be directed to Dr Jonathan Squire
