Dr Inga Smith's international leadership role at CLIVAR/CliC/SCAR

Inga_CLIVAR_SCARDr Inga Smith has started her new international leading role as the co-chair of the CLIVAR/CliC/SCAR Southern Ocean Region Panel. This organisation held its 11th session late last year, 17-18 September 2016, in Qingdao, China.

CLIVAR (Climate and Ocean: Variability, Predictability and Change) and CliC (Climate and Cryosphere) are two of the five core projects of the World Climate Research Programme sponsored by the World Meteorological Organization, the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO.

The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) is an inter-disciplinary committee of ICSU and its role is initiating, developing and coordinating high quality international scientific research in the Antarctic region, and on the role of the Antarctic region in the Earth system.
