Late last year Dr Robyn Williams, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, visited the University of Otago and gave a memorable speech at the graduation ceremony. He interviewed leading researchers at the University including Associate Professor Niels Kjærgaard. Niels explained that while the Northern Hemisphere has the Large Hadron Collider, on the Southern Hemisphere his group has developed a world first: the "littliest hadron collider", less than a millimetre in diameter. The collider has recently been used to study a fundamental principle of quantum mechanics: the Pauli exlusion principle. Full interview
Congratulations Niels!
