Dr Andrew Sykes
Transpower New Zealand
Transpower has two roles, the grid owner and the system operator. These two roles are interdependent, and both are essential for the power system to operate successfully. We are also part of a wider supply chain - working in sync with generators, distribution companies, retailers and technology providers to power New Zealand homes and businesses.
In this talk we will discuss some of the wider issues confronting the electricity industry, such as emerging tech and obligations associated with climate accords. Identifying these issues, their magnitude, and their timing, is crucial for us to prepare for a future that is looking increasingly different from today.
