Dr Harald Schwefel, Dr Madhuri Kumari from the University of Otago Physics Department and colleagues have published a paper in Nature titled "Resonant electro-optic frequency comb".
This novel device could enable the next generation of faster and more energy efficient internet and/or high-precision spectroscopy. The research has developed from Dr Schwefel's previous research at the German Max Planck Institute and his collaboration with Dr Alfredo Rueda, who did some of the preliminary research.
