Services at our Dunedin Clinics

General physiotherapy

Patient receiving general physiotherapy at the Dunedin Physiotherapy Clinic

Our clinicians know how to deal with conditions such as concussion, sprains and strains, back and neck problems, arthritis, and post-operative rehabilitation.

We carry out individualised assessments, and strive to give you a good understanding of the problem so you can get back sooner to the activities you love.

We can help to identify the main problem(s), enable you to work towards your goals, get you back to your normal everyday functions, and rehabilitate you through activity-based therapy. We’ll also better inform you, so you can manage your condition.

Dry needling / trigger point needling

Patient receiving acupuncture at the Dunedin Physiotherapy Clinic

Dry needling is a form of Western acupuncture and is also known as trigger point needling. The practice involves the insertion of fine sterile acupuncture style needles through the skin to target and treat localised hypersensitive tight bands of muscle called myofascial trigger points.

These trigger points naturally occur in our muscles but only become symptomatic (usually in the form of pain) when they are activated by some form of internal or external stress.

Our clinical staff are trained in trigger point needling and can offer this service as part of your treatment.

Injury recovery

Our injury recovery class – circuit and pilates-based training – is specifically targeted to improve muscle performance and balance. The combination of equipment- and mat-based exercises focuses on correcting muscle activation for a return to full function.

Individual assessments are required prior to joining.

The class is taken by an experienced physiotherapist specialising in this area, on Tuesday evenings.
