Lower uninary tract symptoms, pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain
Teaching

My main focus when teaching is to ensure there is an effective communication and meaningful connection between the students and I. I understand effective communication and meaningful connection as the development of trust, acceptance and a deep desire to share knowledge and experiences. I embrace cultural and social diversity in my teachings spaces and support the discussions and actions around that by the students.

  • Undergraduate: neurorehabilitation, pelvic health and motor learning
  • uMove sessions: Community physiotherapy for people with long-term conditions supervision
  • Postgraduate: neurorehabilitation
  • Thesis supervision: Honours, masters' and PhD
Memberships
  • ICS
  • Neuro special group PNZ
  • Pelvic health special group PNZ

Research

I am a clinical researcher interested in improving health outcomes for the maternal, ageing and neurological population. Particularly, I am interested in supporting evidence for managing lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PPGP).

  1. Impact of LUTS on activity and participation and LUTS management and delivery (ageing and neurological population)
  2. Pregnancy-related lumbopelvic pain and falls (focus on health delivery, management and foundational research)

Additional details

Daniela is seeking motivated PhD and masters' students who have an interest in one of the following topics:

  1. Impact of LUTS on activity and participation, LUTS management and health delivery (ageing and neurological population) or
  2. Pregnancy-related lumbopelvic pain and falls (focus on health delivery, management and foundational research)

Please consult the University of Otago scholarships webpage to check eligibility for international and domestic student scholarships.
