The purpose of this paper is to enable the physiotherapist currently working in a dedicated area of clinical practice to develop critical thinking skills applicable to professional practice in the area to an advanced level of knowledge and competence.

This Distance Learning paper is taught remotely.
Students must be practising physiotherapy with access to a clinical caseload whilst undertaking this paper as logbooks are completed as part of the assessment.

The aims of this paper are to further develop the student's ability to critically review and evaluate current physiotherapy clinical practice trends, to apply this information in the evaluation and management of patients, and to contribute to the development of effective and efficacious physiotherapy management.
On successful completion of this paper the student will be able to:
- Be well versed in the evidence base that supports the management approach/es in their specific area/s of professional physiotherapy practice
- Critically review and reflect on the management approach/es applied and demonstrate adaptation as appropriate
- Integrate the ICF* model of health and disability in assessment and management in their specific area/s of professional physiotherapy practice
- Apply new learning approaches to inform changes in clinical practice
