What is the study about?

Ageing well with painAgeing Well with Chronic Pain study - Focus Group - aims to better understand the level of difficulty to activity and social participation due to chronic pain in an ageing population, so that we may work on better ways to promote healthy ageing in New Zealand.

Am I eligible to participate?

You are eligible to participate if you are aged 65 years and over, and have had body pain for 3 months or more.

You must be able to converse in English, and provide informed consent.

What will I be asked to do?

You will be asked to participate in a focus group discussion together with around 6-8 other people who also experience chronic pain. We would like to hear about your pain, and how this affects your life. You will also be asked to complete a demographic questionnaire (~5 minutes to complete).

For Otago based participants, each focus group will last for a maximum of one and half hours at the School of Physiotherapy in Dunedin.

For South Otago and Southland region, interviews will run in Alexandra, and Invercargill.
