As part of the PFP scholarship, students receive a guaranteed place in a residential college. We recommend that students stay in a residential college. The colleges provide a safe and warm environment with structure and support that allows students to perform better academically. Furthermore, PFP students get to experience university and hall life as a Foundation Year student and will know what to expect when they start their first year of university.
The cost of living at a residential college is approximately NZ$14,000 (based on 2016 fees).
Please contact the University of Otago accommodation office to find out how much accommodation fees are for 2017.
The POPO Foundation Scholarship (PFP) pays NZ$7,000 towards a student's accommodation fees at a residential college. It is then up to the student and family to pay the remaining balance. Parents, please note that the residential colleges provide various payment options to suit your budget. All this information will be provided once your child has received an offer from a residential college.
Please note that the PFP scholarship does not cover any activities / entry fee which is required once you accept and sign a contract from the residential college.
The PFP scholarship is paid as an upfront payment in February. Unfortunately, the PFP scholarship does not cover any travel costs.
