The Politics Spring Lecture Series 2018 was a great sucess with amazing turn out to our panels on Exclusion and Inclusion in the Public Sphere, Resurgent Nationalism in Europe and The Labour-led Government: One year on.

This series of four, free, open to the public, lectures was sponsored by the University of Otago Politics Programme. If you missed out on attending any of the panels we have recordings of three of them below.

Join us for a lively panel discussion about the first year of the Labour-led government with a particular focus on leadership, reducing inequality, climate change policy, and outcomes for Māori.

Resurgent Nationalism in Europe

A panel of experts discuss the apparent resurgence of nationalism in Europe in its various forms (e.g. anti-EU, anti-immigrant, sub-state nationalism) and evaluates the extent of the revival of nationalism, the causes, and the implications for the future of the EU. Listen to the recording here.

Exclusion and Inclusion in the Public Sphere

Exclusion from the public sphere raises serious questions of legitimacy for any democratic society. Yet all over the world, indigenous peoples still struggle to be included on their own terms in political debate and decision-making. The experts on this panel offer their reflections on some recent cases transnationally and in New Zealand and Australia.
