Positive feedback about an induction programme for new School of Business postgraduate students has encouraged the School to hold the programme at least once a year.

School of Business Associate Dean – Postgraduate, Dr Maree Thyne, says the March induction was designed to give students an insight into the services available to them during their studies, along with information on the University community to which they now belong.

Students met with various staff from the School of Business and the wider University, as well as current and past postgraduate students from the School.

The official programme opened with a presentation from the Director of Graduate Research Services, Dr Charles Tustin, on the University's research student community and services available. The afternoon progressed with talks by various student support services, such as OUSA; Student Learning Services; Library Services; Kaiawhina and Disability Information and Support Services. The presentations concluded with six previous and current postgraduate students within the School of Business providing stimulating insights into their personal research journeys.

Maree says, “I received feedback that the new postgraduate students really appreciated the broad overview provided from the departments present at the induction, and one of the best things was how useful and informative the present and past student talks were.”
