Comparison of state relations with Indigenous and other minority peoples in selected nations, including New Zealand.
This paper introduces students to theory about accommodating diversity in liberal constitutions. Students undertake self-directed case study and comparative research of liberal democratic nations which are being challenged by calls for indigenous and minority rights.

- Utilise comparative methodology to ask and answer questions relevant to the study of politics.
- Demonstrate familiarity with the knowledge required of the case study nations, including New Zealand and the Treaty of Waitangi.
- Analyse and assess political problems through comparative analysis, and communicate this analysis in written and oral forms.
- Undertake self-directed and independent research.
