Overview

This is a broad research theme with often quite a few projects available for the right student/postdoc. I can also accommodate keen students with their own area of interest within this theme.

Most of my work is either conducting randomised controlled trials or systematic reviews and meta analsyes. I also have some experience with and can support students in topics that include qualitative research, dietary assessment, and use of national data sets.

Current areas of research include:

  • Food processing on whole grains and T2 diabetes management
  • Ultra-processed food intakes
  • Healthy grocery delivery in usual care for adults recovering from an acute coronary event
  • Red and processed meat reduction for health and planetary benefits
  • Understanding behavioural change towards healthy diets
  • Weight loss for those with T2 and obesity who wish to lose weight
  • Legume and pulse intakes in human health
  • Refined grain intake and human health
  • Metabolite markers of dietary intakes
  • Potato intakes and human health
  • Dietary fibre
  • Carbohydrate quantity and quality in diabetes management
