Overview

My team is investigating various aspects of sexual behaviour in rodents. Below are potential projects for postgraduate studies:

Project 1

Puberty is a sensitive time period for brain structural organization and differentiation, and stress during puberty may have long term impacts. I am interested in studying how exposure to chronic sleep deprivation (CSD) during puberty affects vulnerability to CSD exposure in adulthood. Outcome measures include sexual behaviour, weight, hormonal, and molecular changes.

Project 2

Androgen deprivation dampens sexual behaviour in male rodents. I am interested in studying whether a dopamine agonist can activate sexual behaviour in male rodents that have been deprived of androgens for a long period of time. If this is the case, what the molecular changes in the brain are that may account for the sexual activation.
