The memoir of A C Aitken
A C Aitken (with biographical introduction by P C Fenton)
The book
Alexander Craig Aitken was a Dunedin mathematician whose contributions to algebra, numerical analysis and statistics brought him the glittering prizes of his profession.
This book publishes for the first time a memoir by Aitken which begins with his departure form Dunedin in 1923 and covers the first 20 years of his life in Scotland.
P C Fenton provides a setting for Aitken's memoir in a biographical introduction, looking at his Dunedin years, including his childhood on the Otago Peninsula, and family background.
