About Carole

Carole Acheson

Carole joined the Student Learning Development in 2008 as the Professional Practice Fellow in Student Learning Development at the University of Otago Christchurch School of Medicine. After attending university in the UK, Carole worked in New Zealand as an adult education lecturer in English Literature, and in Canada as course convener of the University of Guelph’s freshman writing and literature programme. In 1991 she was appointed by the University of Canterbury to develop the Writing and Study Skills Programme, now the Learning Skills Centre.

Her main teaching interest is in the learning challenges faced by postgraduates returning to higher education for professional development, and ways of teaching advanced academic skills quickly and effectively.
