Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences

Michelle Redmond is no stranger to distance learning. She obtained a Diploma in Sports Studies through the University of Otago while living and working full-time in Hamilton. She then spent 12 years working in the health and fitness industry in the UK, where she completed a master's degree in Physical Activity and Public Health through Staffordshire University's distance learning programme.Upon her return to New Zealand, she once again enrolled at Otago, this time to study for a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences, majoring in Human Nutrition.

“The University of Otago is very well set up for distance learning students. At no time have I felt disadvantaged learning via this means. If anything, it is an advantage being able to learn around your other commitments, like work and family.

“The University's library and technical support services are amazing. They are very fast at responding to requests for help and I have never had any problem with obtaining help or support, whether it is setting up an email account or requesting book chapters.“

“The staff who teach on the programme are outstanding. The standards set by the teaching staff in the Department of Human Nutrition are very high. They stretch you to think critically and really develop your ability, especially at postgraduate level, to think beyond what is presented as fact.“
