Overview

Nicola Grimmond, née Williams (1936–2003), graduated BSc in 1958 from the University of Otago and was appointed Assistant Lecturer in Zoology.

During the next 10 years she taught and had three children while completing her MSc. She was appointed Senior Lecturer in 1977 and she was elected life member of the Society for Research on Amphibians and Reptiles in New Zealand.

Nicola's service to the University was wide-ranging and innovative. She was elected staff representative on the University Council 1978–82 and 1991–96.

As co-ordinator of student welfare services for 13 years, she was instrumental in the introduction of the ethical behaviour policy, and establishment of the contact network and University's mediation service.

She retired in 1997.
