Students who have been provisionally admitted to the Clinical Psychology Training Programme are required to take PSYC 401-406, each of which is a 10-point single-semester paper. PSYC 402-406 are for clinical students only.

- Paper Structure
This paper will survey techniques available for the assessment of children, focusing on practical and theoretical issues pertaining to the evaluation of cognitive, academic behavioural and social emotional functioning. The format of the paper will include lectures, presentations and class discussions. Topics typically covered in this paper include:
- Introduction to ethical and professional issues in assessment with children
- Measurement issues, the assessment process, feedback and report writing
- Interviews, rating scales/self-report instruments
- Cognitive and academic assessment
- Behavioural observations
- Functional assessment of behaviour
- Social contexts and assessment in child and adolescent clinical psychology
Internal Assessment: 60% of the final grade is based on internal assessment, including class presentations and written assignments covering evidence-based assessment with children and young people and practice administration, scoring and interpretation of psychological assessment information and report writing.
