To provide a broad range of recreational activities that benefit the physical (taha tinana), mental and emotional (taha hinengaro), social (taha whanau) and spiritual (taha wairua) well-being of the campus community. These activities contribute to the unique Otago student experience.
How we aim to do this
Promotion of recreation, sport and fitness
as holistic in nature through using various promotional avenues including a bi-annual magazine, tertiary events, web platforms and through the provision of an outstanding student experience which enhances ‘word of mouth’.
Access to facilities
is provided which enable all student involvement, both structured and unstructured.
Provide sport, recreation and fitness programming
that is designed to encourage students to participate in activities that are integral to their wellbeing.
Provide professional risk management
by managing risk and participant safety in a variety of recreational environments that ensures consistency with university policies and procedures.
Maintaining a student focus
through providing significant learning opportunities fostered through employment, volunteering and participation.
Provide an outstanding environment
to stimulate a balanced lifestyle through ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of outstanding recreational facilities and equipment that seek to involve ongoing student participation in recreation.
