UTSNZ Student Athlete Commission (SAC)

Student Athlete Rep 2020 Maggi

A big thank you to Maggi who has represented us on the University and Tertiary Sport New Zealand Student Athlete Commission for the past two years. She has done an amazing job at being the voice of our student athletes and organising activities for the International Day of University Sport. Maggi has graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Majoring in Sport & Exercise Nutrition and is currently undertaking a Masters of Applied Science in Advanced Nutrition Practice. Maggi aims to graduate at the end of June so will be moving on from her Student Athlete Commission role. Ngā mihi mō ngā tau kei mua i te aroaro.

New Student Athlete Commission representative sought!

We are now looking for a new Student Athlete Commission (SAC) representative. The voice of the student-athlete is an important and increasingly recognised enabler in delivering quality sport opportunities to student athletes and the UTSNZ SAC aims to allow the voice of the student-athlete to be effectively communicated with the organisation. The SAC provides advice to the UTSNZ Executive about issues of student sport participation and achievement, and the ongoing development of UTSNZ. The commission also helps to build awareness of UTSNZ within member students’ groups and to implement student-focused initiatives.

The SAC members represent up to 11 universities and tertiary institutions around New Zealand. All members of the Student Athlete Commission are:
• Currently enrolled at a UTSNZ member institution at the time of election.
• Elected by their tertiary institution.
• Participants in competitive sport themselves, currently or within the last five years, ideally at a national level.

Members of the Student Athlete Commission:
• give the student point of view to UTSNZ.
• advise the UTSNZ board, especially on student sport participation and achievement.
• build awareness of UTSNZ among students.
• help to carry out student-focused initiatives at their universities.

Visit UTSNZ for more information on University Sport New Zealand and SAC for more information on the Student Athlete Commission.

To apply for the role, please complete this application form.
