Thank you message from the Blood Service

Kia ora everyone

Thank you for helping towards another successful mobile at the University Campus.

This month of October we collected a total of 152 donations potentially saving 456 lives. Of those numbers we had 40 new donors which is high.

We have come to the end of our year at Otago Uni so thought I would show you the numbers for 2017 which look pretty impressive.
• We visited the campus three times during the year, a total of 9 days.
• 533 students and staff and (mostly students) attended the sessions.
• Of these we had 458 collections of blood.
• Of these we had 93 new donors.

Altogether for the year of 2017 Otago University helped save potentially 1,374 lives.

All the best for the rest of the year and have a well-deserved holiday break with sunshine, family and friends. Appreciate all your help.

Ngā mihi, Lynn

Beer Fest, miss out on a ticket?

It is true, the Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival is sold out BUT we do have a few cheeky tickets floating about as giveaways. Make sure you’re following our Facebook Page, Facebook Event AND are subscribed to our Newsletter… you might get lucky, but you gotta be in it to win it. Keep your eyes peeled.

Clearing out? OUSA want your stuff

Procrasta-sorting through this exam period? Getting ready to ship out of the flat and have some pre-loved goodies that you don’t want any more? Clothing or knick-knacks…we’ll take it! We are now collecting for the OUSA Rummage Sale for Ori 2018. Your old faves could be someone’s new treasure! Pop it in a bag and drop it off at the OUSA Clubs and Societies building anytime they’re open.

Free vacant flat checks by Campus Watch over the summer break

If you’re leaving your flat unattended over the summer break, Campus Watch can drop by and do a free daily security check for you. While they can’t guarantee your flat won’t be broken into (burglars can be determined folk!) their presence can act as a deterrent and if any break-ins do happen, they are more likely to be discovered straight away.

You can sign up your flat anytime by filling out this form to register and dropping it into the Proctor’s office a week before you leave town. Campus Watch also have UV markers for you to mark your valuables.

Keep your flat and belongings safe by locking your windows and doors when your flat is empty, taking your valuables with you, UV marking your belongings, and signing up to the free flat checks.

Extra skips & DCC rubbish collections – Friday 3 and Saturday 4 November

Last  skips of the year to get your flat cleaned out, plus extra recycling and rubbish collections! Don’t get stung by your landlord or the ORC, make sure you make use of the skips and extra DCC rubbish collections.

Skips will be out on Friday 3 & Saturday 4 November, from 9am to 4pm so you can get rid of all that stuff you can’t put out in your black sacks or recycling bins. The DCC recycling bins and rubbish bag collections will be done on the same days; place bags & bins on the kerbside by 7am on collection days.

If skips located closest to your flat are full, please take your rubbish to another skip at these locations.

If you can, it’s probably best to get rid of your rubbish before 3.30pm, as skips which are taken away to be emptied towards the end of the collection period may not be replaced with a new skip.

Take a minute to remind yourself about the DCC rubbish collection service requirements for using DCC rubbish bags only. Non-DCC rubbish bags will not be collected.

Thanks for your help during the year keeping the campus tidy.
