Student Experience

Student Experience encompasses three student-centric services.

Student Administration - supports students’ course management, from application through to graduation. The portfolios are managed by three Group Leaders. The portfolios include:

  • Progression, graduation, prizes, awards
  • Admission and course management (course approval)
  • Scholarships and assessment (examinations)
  • Course advice and student development opportunities
  • Timetables and casual room bookings

Student Experience contacts

Most aspects of Student Administration come from teams already in place who handle admissions (domestic and international), run examinations, organise graduations and ensure people applying for a place at University are legally allowed to be here.

The team will grow in 2019 as we add in admissions from a number of areas from the University, including departmental admissions (e.g. Law, College of Education).

Timetables is a small team of seven, but an important service. The careful and considered work of the timetables team facilitates a smooth and functioning university.

Student Development is an area with significant potential for development. Considering the whole student is the foundation of the vision for Student Development; course advice and the facilitation of support will flow from a holistic view of the student. In time, Student Development will encourage and advise students about the services on offer at the University of Otago, giving all students the option of relating to someone who asks enquires about the direction they are heading and what they might need to get there.
